Kelsey and Aaron have one of the best how-we-met stories I've heard, and as a Vancouver wedding photographer that's really saying something.
The Vancouver couple, now based in Colorado, are both avid runners. One hot night in August of 2013 Kelsey was out for a run when a streak of green zoomed passed, but not without turning 180 degrees to get a full view of Kelsey.
Taking the unspoken challenge, Kelsey sped up, and so began a kilometers-long game of cat-n-mouse, until the two joined forces to finish their run. When it came it its end, Aaron knew he needed to see Kelsey again, and blurted, "How will I remember your phone number?!"
"Not my problem," Kelsey winked. They parted ways, and little did Kelsey know that Aaron raced to the nearest gas station to scribble down her number.
And if you think THAT's cute, the marriage proposal is even better: at Aaron's insistence they headed out on a run on a soggy night, returning to the scene of their initial meetings. Like true Vancouver-ites, they got engaged in running shoes in the pouring rain, right where the magic began.
Despite the casual dress at their meeting and engagement, Aaron & Kelsey's wedding was anything but Vancouver casual.
After falling in love with Hycroft for the ceremony and reception venue, they decided it was the chance of a lifetime to go formal. The men wore black tuxes, the women were in long, delicate pink dresses, and the entire scene elegance, to a tee.
Elaborate flower centrepieces adorned the tables, gold accents highlighted the classic surroundings, and the bride and groom were all smiles, all night. I felt like I was photographing a wedding out of old Hollywood!
Congrats to Aaron and Kelsey, and your runaway love.
