Tradition looks good on Lianne and Robert.
The Vancouver-based bride and groom celebrated their wedding in August at Holy Rosary Cathedral, followed by a chic and elegant party at the Van Dusen Gardens. The opted for classic elegance, right down to the little wedding details.
“I loved the blusher veil that I ended up wearing,” explains Lianne. “I just felt like a very classic bride wearing it, and I loved that it went with the formal cathedral and very traditional vibe of the ceremony.”
As you can see from the wedding photos (taken both at the Four Seasons where the couple got ready, and the formal venues) the entire day for these two lovebirds was based on the cornerstones of tradition, and having a really, really good time.
The cathedral wedding ceremony was just for family and close friends, and was followed by a good, old-fashioned party for over 200 guests later in the evening. Truffles provided mouth-watering catering, the cake came from Luv Cravings, and the band The Young Executives got people up and dancing into the wee hours.
As a wedding photographer I get to spend a lot of time with happy people, but Lianne & Robert’s big day was full of beaming faces. Seriously, so much joy!
“The greatest moment would have to be our grand entrance,” Lianne recounts. “I was so overwhelmed seeing so many friends and family members there to support us! I remember not being able to stop smiling, looking around at all the happy and familiar faces, and thinking about how lucky we are to be surrounded by so many amazing people who were there to celebrate us.”
It wasn’t just the wedding guests showing the love: Lianne and Robert have such a sweet love for one another, and it really comes across in their wedding photos. Taking the bride & groom photos was another of Lianne’s favorite moments of the day, because her and Robert got to spend a little bit of one-on-one-on-wedding photographer time together.
It’s really no surprise that they chose “classic” as the central theme for their wedding: this adorable couple dates all the way back to a fateful Earth and Ocean Sciences 101 class at the University of Victoria. Being the good, traditional kids that they are, Lianne and Robert had “many unnecessary study dates” before becoming an item that year… and the rest is history! Or, should we say science?
I had a blast shooting this cathedral and Van Dusen wedding, and wish nothing but classic love and romance for these lovebirds in the future!
